From Financial Failure to a Custom Onesie
From Financial Failure to a Custom Onesie: Why I Don't Give Up
A baby onesie changed the way I viewed my business.
Last year my team surprised me with a birthday dinner.
I had no idea.
They roped my parents into the plan, duping me into thinking we were having a family dinner.
When I showed up, my team was there to celebrate.
That alone would have been incredible.
But that’s not where this story ends.
One of our team members had recently had a baby and she brought him to the dinner.
When she held him up, he was wearing a onesie.
But it wasn’t just any onesie.
It was a custom Clix onesie.
Someone at the company had given it to her as a gift.
Aside from being deeply grateful for the dinner, I walked away thinking about what it means to be a founder.
TBH, custom baby onesies are not in your plans in those early years.
You’re just working head-down and praying to make payroll.
It was a profound inflection moment for me.
Together, this team and I had built a company worthy of being on a baby’s gifted onesie.
None of it would have been possible if I’d ever given up.
This is your sign to just keep moving.
Take the next right step over and over until you’re on higher ground.
If I can do it … anyone can.
What’s a similar inflection moment you’ve had as a founder or leader?
